A very mexican race

A phrase that made all fans happy this weekend: Sergio Perez got a podium, becoming the first Mexican driver to achieve it in the Mexican GP. And with that, everything else came in second place...ok ok not at that level. We also had more surprises.

The weekend started with predictable practices, Red Bull dominating followed by the Mercedes, and we continued with qualys that surprised us all. Bottas making a phenomenal lap, which no one expected and which gave him the pole position, followed by Hamilton who improved in the final seconds and behind them the two Red Bull after a mistake from Tsunoda affected them. Gasly was the best of the rest, followed by Sainz, Ricciardo and Leclerc and we had several drivers who went to the bottom because of penalties: Russell, Stroll, Norris, Tsunoda and Ocon. Everything showed that we had an exciting start for Sunday, and so it was…

In the first lap Max had a perfect start passing the Mercedes quietly, Bottas after doing everything right the whole weekend, was left to the bottom because of a touch with Ricciardo, who had also made a good start, causing chaos in the back and this cost the race to Tsunoda and Schumacher who were left out after that first lap. ( very sad way to end their first race in the Mexican GP) . In the first laps the pressure was on Checo who wanted to catch up with and pressure Hamilton, so that Verstappen would take advantage. The pits strategies of both teams worked and had good stops, but the Red Bulls were way faster.

On the other hand, we had a very good race of the Ferarris that were very consistent and that gave them the third place in the constructors championship. Very different from the race of the Mclarens who did not manage to accommodate after the problem of Ricciardo in the first lap and Lando who had a discreet race getting in the top 10 and managed to add only 1 point for this weekend. (one to forget)

Special mention for Pierre Gasly who made a perfect race finishing in fourth place without problems, and also for Vettel and Kimi who finished in 7th and 8th, added some points and did a very good race.

In the last laps Checo was getting closer and closer to Hamilton but it was not enough to pass him. Deserved and quiet victory for Max who had a 16-second lead over Hamilton, and Checo 3rd completing the podium. The Bulls did a great job and clearly they were better and faster. The results helped the point difference between Max and Lewis to rise to 19 and between Red Bull and Mercedes is only 1 point.

The atmosphere is turning Red Bull, and if things continue this way, I think by the end of the triple header, we’ll know who the winner is.

The excitement and f1esta that Mexico City gave made the weekend spectacular,(a clear example of this was the celebration of Checo's dad , who represented all of us) but the closure we had was perfect and leaves us with more excitement for the next two dates.

Next stop: Interlagos
